INTRODUCTION TO REFLEXOLOGY
“Sure relaxing makes me feel better, but does it really help with my health?” Yes, it can. Homeostasis, or your natural state of balance, is not just “whoo-whoo”. This seminar will provide a basic introduction to reflexology and relaxation for your well-being. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn simple, self-care reflexology techniques. Reflexology works with mini-maps that guide accessing the reflexive areas of the entire body on a single area – the ears, hands and feet. 3 Individual classes are offered, participation in all 3 is helpful, but not required. You may take one, two or all three classes.

DATE: Sat Mar 20: Ear Reflexology – Ear reflexology is a non-invasive technique of utilizing a mini-map of the body on the ear to increase relaxation. This class is designed to help you begin to feel comfortable working with ear reflexology to improve your well-being. Please come with your curious hat on and your finger nails trimmed.

LIVING WITH LOSS
This seminar is designed to help you work through the normal and needed process of grief that follows the death of a loved one. Together, with the use of videos and group discussion, we explore ways of coping with life’s changes, ways to remember our loved one, and ways that lead us toward growth and healing.

MEDITATION MADE EASIER
Meditation Made Easier is an easy to learn technique, calming you physically, quieting you mentally and consistently delivering you to a state where it is easy to practice the peacefulness of meditation. Come learn Meditation made Easier! No previous experience with any kind of meditation is required. Two separate one day sessions will be offered.

PREVENTING DIABETES
Studies have shown that people who are at risk for developing diabetes can prevent and delay the disease with lifestyle changes. This class will help you learn about pre-diabetes and diabetes, and help you with the steps you can take to get started to decrease your risk and prevent diabetes. It will introduce you to carb counting, label reading, developing goals for lifestyle changes, discuss cholesterol, LDL, HDL, fiber, weight loss myths, portions, as well as resources.

PROACTIVE LIVING IN A REACTIVE WORLD
Learn how to increase your awareness levels and observational skills while paying attention to your surroundings. Learn personal safety and security measures to protect yourself from potential threats.

R-E-L-A-X
Times are tough, and stress is high. Come to this workshop and learn different techniques to help you relax, sleep better, feel better, and get the most out of life. Some of the relaxation strategies covered include deep-breathing, meditation, visualization, and mindfulness (living in the moment). During this workshop you will have the opportunity to try out different relaxation techniques. For adults and adolescents (no children, please).

TAI CHI AND QIGONG AN INTRODUCTION
Anyone can learn a simple, yet classical set of Tai Chi movements and Qigong breathing exercises that take only minutes a day to perform. The slow movements ease stiffness, strengthens small muscles around Arthritic joints in knees, hips, back. It improves: balance, blood pressure, core strength, circulation in legs/ feet, relieves pain, depression and builds stamina. True classical Tai Chi offers a balanced workout that expands and contracts every gland and organ. Breathing is deep and relaxed, leaving one with a sense of well being.

TOBACCO CESSATION

TOBACCO CESSATION INFORMATION AND SUPPORT SESSIONS
Island County Health Department and Whidbey General Hospital will be offering free information/support sessions for quitting tobacco for good. These one-hour sessions will help you learn about health issues related to tobacco, the many tools that are now available for helping you quit, and how to find resources to serve you. Whether you use cigarettes or smokeless tobacco, if you’ve tried to quit before or not, there are many resources to help you. Get inspired to “Quit for Good”. WHIDBEY WELLNESS
The Whidbey Wellness program is designed to improve wellness in individuals who have experienced difficulty losing weight and achieving wellness. Realistic and useful strategies to help you change your way of thinking about diet and exercise will be shared.
• Participants must have a Body Mass Index > 25 and/or Metabolic Syndrome or Diabetes.
• Participants agree to avoid diets such as Atkins, Dr. Phil, South Beach, Slim Fast, Prism, etc.
• Participants agree to avoid diet supplements and appetite suppressants.
• Participants agree to commit to 150 minutes of additional exercise each week. 16 Sessions (Two times a week for 8 weeks), 45 minutes of Education and 45 minutes of Exercise

WHIDBEY WELLNESS FOR TEENS
This program has been designed to improve wellness in adolescents between the ages of 14 to 17 who meet the minimum registration requirements for participation. Call for information on the requirements.

Participants will learn realistic and useful strategies to modify their lifestyle that will help change their way of thinking about diet and exercise. Topics include: Developing an eating pattern that fits their lifestyle and meets their nutritional needs, reading and understanding food labels, nutrition education with a registered dietitian, stress management techniques that will help reduce stress eating, developing a safe exercise program and learn ways of incorporating physical activity into their daily routine.
Each session includes 45 minutes of education and 45 minutes of exercise.

YOGA FOR SENIORS
As in all Integral Yoga classes, the emphasis is on gently stretching, rather than pushing the body beyond its limits. Annapoorne specializes in rehabilitative and gentle yoga. Please have your stomach empty for 2 hours prior to class. Bring a blanket, if you wish, for deep relaxation. All classes six weeks.
