Grant Programs
The mission of the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation is to support Whidbey General Hospital and community health endeavors through public awareness and the development and management of charitable resources.
To support this mission, the Foundation administers a Grant Program funded by contributions from individuals, organizations and grants from government agencies and other foundations. The Foundation Board of Directors considers and acts on grant requests as follows:
Amy Ayers Scholarship Fund
Amy Ayers had a long and distinguished career at Whidbey General Hospital, beginning as Chief Nurse Executive in 1978 and retiring after 7 years as Chief Operating Officer in 2002. She was admired and respected for her knowledge, skills and leadership. She was loved for her dedication to patient care, her commitment to Whidbey General Hospital and her willingness to freely share what she knew. She was first and foremost a nurse, but was appreciated for her attention and respect to every job and every employee’s contribution. The Amy Ayers Scholarship Fund was established to honor her and her service to healthcare in our community. Annually, the Whidbey General Hospital Foundation Board of Directors determines the number and amount of scholarships that will be made available to hospital employees to pursue graduate, post-baccalaureate degrees and/or for training that leads to certification or advanced credential accreditation, which will directly benefit or enhance patient care. Deadline for applications is May 1st annually.

Grants to Whidbey General Hospital
These grants are awarded to various Whidbey General Hospital departments in response to funding requests for specific programs or projects. The Foundation Board accepts funding requests five times per year. (January, March, July, September and November). Requests for funds restricted by donors for a specific department or a specific project may be submitted any time through a simplified process that includes verification by Foundation staff that the request adheres to the donor’s intent.
